AgriTech Engineer Job Description

Example of an AgriTech Engineer Job Description

INTRODUCTION:

  • Role mission: Goals, team, and resources to make it happen. 

 RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Lead the design, development, and optimization of innovative agricultural technologies and solutions.
  • Conduct research, interviews, and field surveys to gather insights, translating them into technical specifications and prototypes.
  • Identify and solve agricultural challenges through hands-on research, testing, and development of advanced agritech solutions.
  • Develop workflows, system architectures, and prototypes for precision farming, irrigation systems, and other agritech applications.
  • Drive process improvements by integrating user-centered design approaches into the development and implementation of agricultural projects.
  • Ensure the consistent delivery of high-quality, efficient, and sustainable agritech solutions.
  • Foster creativity and innovation through regular brainstorming sessions and educate team members on emerging agritech trends and best practices.
  • Collaborate with a wide range of stakeholders, including farmers, agronomists, and technology experts, in an agile environment.

Skills, Knowledge, and Experience:

  • Minimum 3-4 years of relevant experience in agritech engineering, with at least 2 years focused on developing technology solutions for agriculture.
  • Relevant Bachelor’s degree in Agricultural Engineering, Agronomy, or a related field; an advanced degree is a plus.
  • Strong portfolio of agritech projects, showcasing technical expertise and innovation.
  • Proficient in design and development tools relevant to agritech solutions, such as CAD software, simulation tools, and prototyping platforms.

Nice to Have:

  • Experience with agricultural data analytics and precision farming technologies.
  • Strong understanding of agricultural business goals and farmer behavior.
  • Experience in planning and leading field tests and pilot projects.
  • Basic knowledge of programming (e.g., Python, C++) and IoT technologies used in smart farming.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-engineers and collaborate effectively with diverse teams.
